Back at it Bathroom

It has been awhile and the bathroom has come very far!  So, I thought it was definitely time to give you a long overdue update on the bathroom renovation.  I promise this week will be full of posts on the bathroom renovation and its progress.

So, where did we leave off.  Oh yeah, duct work.  Rewind to the month of February.  Before we could hang drywall we needed to finish the duct work in the bathroom and relocate the water lines.  The duct work installation wasn't nearly that bad.  A couple of screws and sealant and we were done in a night.

The water line relocation, well, that had its ups and down.  We found out that the valves in our condo and to the building are super old.  We turned off the valves to our condo to do the relocation only to find out that the cold water valve was stuck shut and couldn't be turned back on.  Hubs did as much of the water line relocation as possible but we couldn't test it out since we couldn't turn the cold water back on.  So, he headed down under the building to attempt to turn the cold water off and see if he could do the valve work himself in our place.  Well, come to find out, you couldn't even turn the water off to the building.  A call to a plumber, a call to the condo later, the condo schedule someone to replace the valves to the building and we decided to have them replace our valves too while they were at it and the water lines were turned off.  We tested our relocated lines to find out there was one small, itty bitty leak in one joint.  Darn.  But that didn't stop us.  We decided we might as well install the drywall on the walls.  We would hold off on installing the ceiling drywall until we could fix the little leak.

Now for Some Drywall!

Pretty good progress!

Go Go Go Bathroom Reno

Kind of like Go, Go, Go Gadget .. you remember, Inspector Gadget?  Hubs and I have made a vow to finish this bathroom this week .. get this project DONE!  So, although I have tons of cool pics to share, in the meantime we are focusing on finishing this bathroom as quickly and perfectly as possible.  I promise to share these pics upon project completion (next week, right).

I must say though, I think we are going to have this bathroom done and bedroom wall painting as well!  Keep your fingers crossed.

And, to remind you what we started with...

When we moved in

A little wall painting and what it has looked like for 2 years

Yay for Wolf Family Promotions!

It has been a very happy week for the Wolf Family.  On Tuesday BOTH Hubs and I found out that we were promoted to Project Manager (me) and Superintendent (Hubs).  Typically the company takes all of this week to hit up the projects and hand out bonuses, promotions, and what not, so for BOTH of us to find out on the same day was pretty darn cool!

We were very pleased with the news / jump up and down and all around.  Hubs also gets a company truck which he has been patiently / excitedingly waiting for.  The mula was also (of course) a very pleasant and fulfilling part of the experience.  It is definitely helping us reach that 'save money this year' goal.

We plan to celebrate Saturday night with a nice dinner out.  Yum

Red Boat Progress

You may remember, but last fall/winter we  Hubs worked on a ton of 'mechanical-esque' things on our new red boat - mainly winterizing the boat and changing some oils here and there, etc, etc.  Well for 2 whole weekends now, we have been back at it and prepping this baby for boating season.  Stuff like cleaning, waxing, sanding, bottom paint, outdrive paint, etc, etc.  It has been some down-right tuff work, leaving Hubs and I especially exhausted come Sunday evening instead of being refreshed and ready to tackle the work week.  I must say though that I am more than pleased with the results of our hard work - our boat is nice and shiny and ready to hit the water.  We have a few more odds and ends to complete (I am thinking about throw pillows and blankets, Hubs is thinking about tinkering with the generator) but hopefully come March 31 this baby is ready to hit the Potomac and head on over to the Chesapeake Bay.

Sorry for the lack of pictures.... we have been sans photos of this whole process, mainly because we have been in 5th gear non-stop.  But here is it the day we bought it for a refresher.

Rockin' 28?

I turned 28 on Sunday.  It was an awesome day. After spending all day Saturday working on the bathroom, celebrating my birthday was a breath of fresh air.  We woke up and headed to our favorite diner for breakfast.  Then we went to 2 wineries - Swedenburg Winery and La Grange Winery.  Headed home to make some dinner - salmon and salad - then topped it off with a trip for my favorite dessert - frozen yogurt!

Yay to 28!

But, I'll be honest, 28 was a little difficult to swallow.  I am officially in my 'late twenties' and the big 3-0 is approaching.  I was suprised I had all those feelings - I never thought I would be the one to feel uneasy about reaching my late twenties.  Its just that over the past couple of weeks I have been thinking plenty about life and making a bucket list of sorts/'arranging' my life to include things I want to accomplish these next 2 years.  Maybe I am putting a little too mush pressure on myself (I tend to do those things) but I have some 'life goals' I would like to check off.

Here it goes, my bucket list of sorts:
-  Save up some good ole cash to help fund, oh say, a kid
-  Buy/Build a House.  We love our place, but we are starting to feel a little 'pinched' in our tiny space.  There just isn't enough room for all our hobbies like biking and boating and traveling and sewing and DIYing with tools.  Plus Grouper would love a yard .. yup, he told me so.
-  Start a family.  We still have a couple of years until we want to expand, but I would like to start a family 'around' our 30s
-  Travel far far away.  My bff just moved to Australia.  I have always wanted to go to Australia.  Score.  But this is something I definitely want to do before a baby comes.  We also want to go to Alaska... soon.
-  Work 'it out'.  All relating to work.  We are crossing our fingers for some good news in the next month or two.  Hopefully I will have more to post on this soon.

There are all intertwined.  Now I just have to enjoy the ride and not get wrapped up in goals.  As a 'task oriented person' this may be difficult, but I am trying :)

MIA..Sorry

I have been MIA recently.  Sorry... I really feel bad about it.  Life has just been super busy and by the time I get home all I want to do is sit ... and relax (and attempt to turn my brain off).  We have also had a temporary lapse in home improvement projects - partly because we needed some time 'away' from projects and partly because we didn't want to spend any more money at the moment.

But, we have completed a little bit here and there on the bathroom reno and boat.  And, hopefully, we will make a major push to complete the bathroom this weekend.  More to come.. so stay tuned.

This Boats got a Home

Two weekends ago Hubs and I decided to take a drive East to the Chesapeake Bay.  We woke up and headed to the North Beach / Rose Haven, MD area and stopped by Herrington Harbour - a friend had her amazing wedding there so I had it in the back of my mind.  We have been trying to decide where to keep the new boat and have been going back and forth between keeping it at my parents and our old marina in Woodbridge, VA.

Well... all things changed when we landed in Herrington Harbour.  For the same price as our old marina we get a ton more amenities are Herrington Harbour - like a pool and fun activities and a beach and a restaurant and a bath house .. etc etc.  Plus, we can explore some places that we have never been before on the boat - like Annapolis and St. Michaels and Solomons, MD.

We are definitely ready for some fun in the sun and adventures this summer!

Check it out!
